Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Mweiga, Nyeri County on Wednesday arrested a man, who is said to have hired three people, including his driver, to kill his son on New Year’s Day.
The body of the man’s son, Daniel Kagondu, was found soaked in blood on January 1 following a family dispute that had been going on for a while.
Police say the suspects, who were arrested in the weekend, confessed that they had allegedly been paid Sh160,000 by Kagondu’s father, Stephen Wagondu Kinini, to kill him over the family row.
The first suspect, James Wahinga, was apprehended at Githurai 45 in Nairobi after police conducted an investigation for three months.
According to police, Wahinga then took the police to Embu, where they found and arrested his alleged accomplices, Geoffrey Waturi and Eddy Kariuki.
President Kenyatta’s cancellation of latest event which was scheduled to take place in Ngong Bus Park has received mixed reactions.

According to opinion leaders from the region, the president cancelled the event because of bitter rivalry of Jubilee politicians after a nomination which has benefited NASA governor Nkedianye has been busy receiving defectors.
Top politicians were rigged out a situation that has not gone well with the party supporters; Senator Peter Mositet was rigged out for Mpayai. Mositet said votes were tampered with in Kajiado Central and Kajiado South in favour of his rival.
What shocked many is the kicking out of Uhuru’s close confidant Kajiado West MP Sakuda, the president has several times been urged by politicians from the region to stop associating himself with politicians who are not liked by electorates.
During a visit to Statehouse gubernatorial aspirant Parantai was praised for giving the president true picture on the ground, the veteran politician told the head of state to stop associating himself with people who have failed the electorates.
Some of the leaders close to the president failed him in Kajiado Central and Mosiro by-election which ODM won.
Parantai’s foretelling had come to come to pass during the nominations, Sakuda and several MCAs were sent home including Chief whip Ngogoyo.
Ngogoyo who is known for attacking governor Nkedianye was shown the door by electorates who voted Gitau to fight for the ticket with Kephason Nyakora (ODM).
The top leadership now fear NASA will take majority seats in the assembly including the governor’s seat. NASA has taken root in the region and Nkedianye still commands a huge following.
Ngong resident James Kamau says the president should have not visited the area before allocating funds to expand Magadi road, which has been a nightmare to motorists due to traffic jam which has led to closure of businesses in the towns.
“What was the president coming to do in Ngong, was he coming to launch the Ngong Bus Park funded by World back and the county government,” he said.
Kajiado County gubernatorial aspirant Ole Kores has vowed to teach Kajiado North MCAs a lesson for abandoning him.
On Saturday all the five MCAs dumped him for Ole Lenku who is vying for gubernatorial post, the MCAs who include Onesmus Ngogoyo had on Saturday claimed Lenku is the only qualified candidate to lead the county.

According to sources Kores who is close friend to President Uhuru is expected to pick strong candidates to ensure the four MCAs Ngogoyo, Mwathi Pere, John Wanyoike and Martin Njogu and MP Joseph Manje do not win nominations.

According to opinion leader James Ole Supeyo the decamping of the MCAs has no huge impact to Kores, most of the MCAs have no support in their wards and majority of them are heading home. The attendees were even paid to attend the rally. Others demanded for more causing fracas after the event.
He said that the Kikuyu community should be the last to complain about Nkedianye since they have many post in the county government, in the county assembly all elected and nominated MCAs from Kajiado North are from Kikuyu community, this are the people who support Kores and Lenku.
Governor Nkedianye still maintains his lead, the support of Lenku or Kores has no impact on his reelection since is only the Kikuyu community that has been seen supporting Jubilee in the urban population.
In Kitengela NASA had held a rally that was attended by thousands, sending a signal that the coalition is still strong and will lead to reelection of Nkedianye.
NASA top leaders Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka,Musalia Mudavadi and Bonny Khalwale endorsed Nkedianye for reelection . They called Lenku to go back to “Kitchen” and said he will fail the county government .The Kitengela meeting has scared Jubilee supporters in the region.
Ongata Rongai youth have endorsed Abdi Abdisalan Hassan for Ward Representative position in Rongai ward.
The youth agreed to support Abdi after a crucial meeting in a Rongai hotel , they said Abdi is the right candidate for the position since he understands challenges youth are facing, they will hold campaigns to ensure he wins Jubilee ticket in the coming Jubilee party nominations.
Abdi, who has been in matatu industry for many years has a huge following,is a threat to incumbent MCA Mwathi Pere who has been accused of neglecting the youth after 2013 election.
Abdi is the only candidate who has united youth in the cosmopolitan town and will start major projects after election.He has been advocating for rights of youth working in Matatu industry.
The aspirant has huge following of young people who are yearning for change, most of the politicians vying for the MCA position have been in power and have nothing to show in development.

The famous lecturer who has majority support from young people is seen as a threat to the incumbent. His opponents have been in prayers for him to support them.

After cleared by Orange Democratic Movement on Monday his convoy caused a major traffic jam in Ongata Rongai where he had a meeting with his supporters. He had also met his supporters in Gataka and Rongai. He was accompanied by ODM youth leader Joash Tai who is also vying for MCA in Nkaimurunya and other ODM MCA aspirants.
According to sources the convoy was organized by his friends who are investors in the region. They had offered to fund him to ensure he takes the seat from nomination. He is assured of taking the seat and is putting strategies to win general election in landslide.
“He is a man of the people, a good orator and trustworthy person, we will offer all the support to ensure he gets the seat,” Joseph Odour, supporter said.
Ngong MCA Paul Supet was on the weekend arrested after reportedly attempting to flee Ngong residents who were arrested at night in police swoop.
The MCA attempted to flee the locals who were arrested for loitering and drinking until late hours in the town.
“He was arrested when he went to Ngong police station to demand release of the lawbreakers . No-nonsense police officers arrested him and booked him sending him to the cell.” said an informer.
Is not clear if Supet’s counterpart MCA Martin Kimemia was too booked .
Supet has been reserving trouble times since he announced that he will be running for Member of parliament in Kajiado North,during a football match in Oloolua Ward, Embulbul locals heckled him after asking them to vote him.The angry locals claimed they have their preferred candidate and the MCA is used to split the votes.
Is not clear if the MCA is serious in capturing the seat or is a” project “of a certain candidate .
The National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) yesterday introduced placard punishment to traffic lawbreakers on notorious Ongata Rongai route.
Several motorists were caught unaware and forced to carry a placard with writings “my overlapping is inconveniencing you, don’t be like me,”
Drive of nganya dubbed Last Kings was the nabbed and ashamed, pictures of him carrying a placard were widely shared on social media with users condemning him for bad manners.

“Y cant NTSA adopt the same law as uk and if you are caught driving bad you have 3 points on your license and a maximum of 12 then you loose your license for one year, if your caught drinking and driving you loose your license straight away for 2 to 5 years its a deterrent to stop the dangerous driving but in Kenya the law is so lax they just pay if caught,” User posted.

Senator endorsement of Manje raises eyebrows.

Kajiado County Senator Peter Mostet announcement that he will support Kajiado North MP Joseph Manje reelection has raised eyebrows of electorates in the constituency.
The electorates have been left wondering why the senator left Persimei who seems to be a strong candidate for the incumbent.
The senator had made the remarks in Oloolua during groundbreaking tarmacking of a road funded by Chinese company that has been mining in Veterinary Farm.
Insiders claim the senator utterances were to “taste waters” they claim that Mostet may be supporting Persimei but was forced to offer the support because of the road project. The senator had made the remarks in front of another MP aspirant Paul Supet who many are also questioning if is prepared for the race or a project of an individual.
“There is no way he could have told people to support him and leave out Manje both are in Jubilee and they have to show people that Jubilee is doing something,” James Kimemia said.
Mositet has been supporting Kajiado North Sub-County Citizen Participation Forum (KACIPAFO) which is linked to Persimei, the incumbent (Manje) has been against it and had claimed that his rival is using it as political tool to get to power.
In a meeting of KACIPAFO in Ngong which was disrupted. Manje had “celebrated” the move claiming his presence stopped progress of the meeting.
Analysts say the Jubilee nomination will be a two horse race between Persimei and Manje, in 2012 the incumbent dropped his bid for Moses Sakuda who is now MP Kajiado West.
After dropping his bid he was, what many say is ” awarded” TNA ticket in 2013, Persimei was against it and filed a case in court to stop the party from issuing the party ticket to Manje.

In ODM businessman Beutah Maroko has been seen to be well prepared to take the ODM ticket, he has already erected billboards in Rongai and Ngong towns causing jitters among Jubilee supporters who claim the region is a Jubilee Zone; analysts claim Jubilee will not have it easy due to its poor development record in the region.
Ongata Rongai Catalyst emerged best Matatu in this year’s Nganya awards which went down in KICC Nairobi over the weekend.
The event, which aims to recognize exemplary Matatus, crews and technicians drew a mammoth crowd. Hundreds of youth turned up to witness the hottest matatus in Kenya.
Celebrations for the win were cut short when a young man was crushed while celebrating, young men majority being University students, were hanging dangerously on the flashy matatus to celebrate the crowning.
A video clip surfaced online shows the lifeless youth on the ground with his head crushed. The vehicle was later booked in a Nairobi police station.
The matatu is most popular in Nairobi and was boarded by American singer Trey Songz during his visit in Kenya for Coke Studio recording. Rongai’s Sparx which is most liked by girls also won in best sound categories.
The Rongai Nganyas are owned by ” big fish” in government and are said to be untouchable.
It is not clear how Catalyst beat Phantom 808 and Sparx to be crowned, 808 had won the Matatu of the year in an event held recently in Nakeel grounds.
