Exposed: Investigations reveal how a fan set ablaze Rongai’s oldest, Club Legend

Burning of Ongata Rongai biggest night club Legend Club, which has been favourite for many has raised many questions on what might have caused the inferno.
The fire started during English Premier League match between Chelsea and Manchester City whereby the English Premier League title holders were thrashed 3 nil.

According to sources Chelsea fans had turned up in their numbers with expectations of punishing their rivals.
The first goal by the “noisy neighbours” sparked anger in the club Arsenal and Manchester United fans mocking the blue fans led to the fans empty several bottles.

According to sources a fan had allegedly gone smoking in  a non-smoking zone and is believed to have started the fire. A staff who spoke on anonymity claimed that the fire started in a section far from kitchen. The club owner was also in the club watching the match.

There has been rumors indicating that the fire may have been  started by a staff  for the owner to claim insurance, the rumors has been thrashed by our  trusted source who indicated that the club owner had spent millions recently in doing renovations.

During the tragedy some youths had caused chaos in the site to divert attention and gain access to the club counter to steal alcohol, police officers had a hard time in controlling them.
The youths who didn’t have an opportunity to snatch even a single bottle from the club turned their anger to politicians who were interviewed by media, they disrupted the interview by throwing empty beer bottles.

One of the youths was beaten up when he allegedly gained access to the neighboring club and tried to get away with alcohol.

Rongai party lovers who had made the club their home  will now have to make a bitter move to other upcoming clubs such as Cubano, Ladida and Platinum which have been seen attracting  youths especially college students.

The 30 year old Club Legend has been a safe location for land dealers who have made millions from the business, it had private rooms where the tycoon used to negotiate big deals and the investors will now have to think of starting another club for the millionaires.

According to sources the lease to operate in the site has not expired, plot owner might try to negotiate with the club owner to end the lease. The situation will see construction of permanent structure which will definitely be a business hub in the area due to its location.

Leaders join hands to stop illicit brew in Kajiado North

Kajiado North illicit brewers have “slowed operations” after raid of their premises that led to record of losses.

Kajiado North Member of parliament, Joseph Manje, Sub-County Commissioner, Mwangi Kahiro and other local administrators had raided illicit brew distribution dens and second generation manufacturers in the County destroying thousands of litres.

The exercise was as a response to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive banning second generation drinks.

Manje said that the illicit brews have led to increase in insecurity and hampered development of the constituency.

The MP said that in order for the country to achieve its goals, the youth must be in the frontline in engaging in development issues. He said that effects of drug abuse are a major cause of insecurity and agony to many families.

Gataka shopping Centre, which is first growing due to its proximity to Karen was raided and thousands of liters poured, the center is the source of alcohol in the constituency and Nairobi County.

The brewing exercise is done along River Mbagathi and the brewers are well connected, they supply the illicit brew to slums such as Kware Ongata Rongai, Ngong Gichagi and Kibera in Nairobi County.

Speaking in a separate event the MP said that several women from Gataka had been trained on how to start important projects and for them to abandon illicit brew businesses.

The MP has started an organization called Family Stability Foundation to fight illicit brew and drug abuse in the constituency, he and Senator Peter Mositet have dedicated part of their salaries to bring positive change in the society.

Senator Peter Mositet urged locals to support the exercise which he said will help in reducing insecurity in the region. He said that the development of the region will grow if illicit brews is eradicated.

Hawaii industry in Kimani road was also raided and several items used to manufacture alcohol burnt down.

The industry owner Samwel Mwangi, who allegedly vied for Nkaimurunya Ward Representative seat in the last elections through TNA party tried to stop the exercise by producing several documents reportedly allowing him to operate the business.

Another premise connected with the individual were also raided. ‘Miti Ni Dawa’ alcohol was destroyed with drums taken to the police station.

There was drama during the exercise when a drug addict swallowed bhang to stop police from arresting him and using the drug as exhibit.

In Olkeri, locals claimed that a local administrator had informed brewers and second generation sellers about the planned raid giving culprits time to relocate their illegal brewing. Locals accused some chiefs and police for protecting brewers.
