Kajiado County governor David Nkedianye has criticized members of county assembly of doing petty politics on important issues.

The governor said MCAs skipped his three years devolution address in assembly to do window-shopping in Kajiado and attend to their personal matters.

Out of 41 MCAs only six attended the cancelled proceedings, Rongai MCA Mwathi Pere attended the assembly and was the only MCA in Nakeel Nkaimurunya ward devolution celebrations.

He said that it is a requirement for the MCAs to attend the assembly proceedings  since they represent the electorates, the MCA have been fighting the governor for long and he claimed they want to sabotage his work  due to party differences .

Many Kajiado MCAs have no formal education, if a bill in Nation assembly detailing minimum requirement of diploma is passed many will be locked out of elections.

The sub county residents have dubbed the event by the county government “PR exercise to blindfold electorates,” before next year election.

“With sewerage menace, impassable roads, garbage, traffic jams, what are we going to celebrate, the elected leaders are sleeping on the job,” Rongai resident Kamau John said.

He claimed that Kajiado North is the most contributor of revenue but has been sidelined in job opportunities and gets little allocation of funds from the county government.

The governments have been accused of neglecting the region they claim the elected leaders are not pushing for the people to benefit from the governments. No project has also begun for 2015/16 financial year.

The Jubilee government has also been accused of giving empty promises on expansion of Magadi road and upgrading of the poor Kiserian Isinya road.

Business people in Ngong town have accused Ngong County officers of sleeping on the job.

The residents say the officers have failed to manage the town; this is after fire burned down one of the town’s famous club.

The residents said the firefighters wasted a lot of time looking for water points to fill their tank; the administrators have not set aside a water point to help firefighters during tragedies.

The cholera deaths in Ngong market have also been blamed on the administrators, being unable to manage cleanness of the markets.

“The town is still full of uncollected garbage even after outbreak of cholera, their work is just collecting levies,if you ask them about the stadium or any other matter they say they don’t know, they are public officers if they want private matters let them resign and open their businesses they will enjoy privacy ” John Kimemia said.

The cholera outbreak led to confrontations of county government and national government leaders.

A local newspaper reported that the officers are not ready to share public information with business people on what is happening in the county.
