After Oloolua Ward by-election in Kajiado North Sub County, politicians in the region have started popularising themselves in readiness for the 2017 General Election. Martin Kimemia won the by-election giving the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) its first electoral victory.

Following this triumph, the party has seen more than five individuals including those who campaigned in the by-election publicly announce their bid for the Kajiado North MP’s seat. Several meetings have been held in Olekasasi, Rongai and Ngong, some of which have been attended by sitting MP Joseph Manje’s close allies.

Persimei Gitau who contended the seat in 2013, will still be on the ballot for the seat. The politician was backing the ODM aspirant in Oloolua, but sources indicate that he will not use the ODM vehicle.

Moses Kinyanjui who was the 2013 Kajiado County Wiper Party’s Senatorial aspirant will also be on the ballot on the Jubilee Alliance ticket.

The aspiring MP said the Oloolua by-election was curtain raiser and that he used a lot of finances to campaign for the Oloolua JAP victor Martin Kimemia.
In what is seen as ensuring that every vote counts the CORD team has also held several meetings to have one candidate in the ballot.

Two aspirants Samson Moindi and Andrew Nyagwansa, have also shown interest in the seat, the two attended latest meeting in Ongata Rongai attended by hundreds of locals mostly from the Gusii community.Another aspirant George Mocheche who is a University lecturer is also in the race in ODM ticket.

The meeting was attended by Ward aspirants Miller Kepha,Yusuf Osando and Denis Omari who have declared their intention of running for MCA seats.

Nyangwansa who run in 2013 on a UDF Party ticket, said they held the meeting to strategise on winning Kajiado North Parliamentary, adding that the area is less developed and need leadership change.

He said the Gusii community has invested a lot in the constituency and must be represented in leadership.

Kajiado Jubilee Secretary General Christopher Leiyan  Roimen has also shown interest in a Kajiado North seat. Addressing a gathering in Ongata Rongai Market, the politician said he will be in the ballot in 2017.

Although he has not announced the seat he will run for, sources indicate that the politician has marked out the  Kajiado North MP seat. He had criticised sitting leaders on the sewerage menace in the area, adding that the leaders must ensure that a modern sewerage system is put up to cater for Kajiado North cosmopolitan towns.

Area MP Joseph Manje had several times hit out at politicians campaigning before set time, saying that they should wait for 2017 to campaign.

Speaking in Kajiado during the swearing in of Oloolua Ward Representative elect Martin Kimemia, the MP said that he is ready for the 2017 challenge.

Some of the Kajiado North politicians have caused commotion in the constituency. They have attended several public meetings keeping on toes the sitting leaders.
